About Me |
I am an assistant professor of strategic communication within the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. To my teaching, research, and service, I bring over twelve years of professional strategic communication experience across the public, private, and social sectors. I was a gender equity/health educator with the U.S. Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa, a health communicator for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and a multinational media consultant.
While earning my doctorate, I worked as a wildland firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service, which motivated my dissertation on visual communication of wildfire recovery as informed by those who fight fire. I regularly enjoy the outdoors and have been fortunate to walk the Appalachian, Pacific Crest, Long, and Wonderland trails. I have also bikepacked the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. My pronouns are He/Him/His.
